End-End Software™ is a practical, proactive way to manage business-critical applications because it monitors performance across the entire application topology. Reports comprise the response time of each and every transaction, breaking down these figures into client time, network time and server time.

This data is then used to identify issues - anywhere in the system - that affect performance. 

End-End Software™ replaces time-consuming and potentially costly speculation with concrete, measurable information. E2E™ allows everyone in an organisation to speak a common language and sets parameters for meeting specific service level goals.

E2Eagent™ resides on the desktop, monitoring and calculating statistics on all aspects of performance by application, transaction and time of day. It has a small footprint and autonomous monitoring.

E2Erepository™ is a centralised data store for End-End Software™ containing end-end configuration information including performance objectives. It stores data on response time performance by application, transaction, time of day, and end-user. In addition, it stores client and server profile data, as well as exception event statistics and server diagnostic data.

E2Esupervisor™ controls all E2E Services. This feature configures and distributes all monitoring schedules, and executes exception action plans on behalf of client agent. It is also responsible for automatic actions.

E2EJ-agent™ specifically monitors Java-based applications.

E2ET-agent (™ pending) specifically monitors TN3270 terminal activity.

E2Econsole™ is a user interface that provides a centralised window for managing performance via interactive, context-sensitive reporting. In addition, it provides analysis and view-only rights for service level reporting with full End-End Software™ administration rights for configuration and reporting. Reports can be easily customised to suit specific business and management needs.

Solution Approach

Trying to achieve Service Level Agreements can be difficult for many businesses (including call centres, service companies, government and the financial sector) in which there is a limited understanding or recognition of what it is like at the 'coal face' of enterprise-wide systems.

End-End Software™'s desktop-based agents 'see' every transaction (via TCP traffic) capturing problems as they occur rather than after the fact.

Without this 'end-to-end' view of application performance, it is impossible to determine the specific cause of faults and bottlenecks. E2Eä specifies the location of the problem whether server, application, database, network or end-user.

E2E™ auto-detects applications being accessed on the desktop, instantly identifying the host IP address at the start of user activity. E2Eä uses this address to identify network traffic to/from the workstation. Even if an IP address changes during the time on/at a workstation, E2E™ will correctly record the transactions.

End-End Software™ measures total transaction response time - the end-to-end 'round trip' calculated from when a user initiates a transaction request, until the response is seen on the relevant client PC. In addition, basic profile statistics are maintained for each type of transaction.

Research

Many businesses suffer because of a limited internal understanding or recognition of what it is like at the 'coal face' of enterprise-wide systems.

We consulted with a number of large companies about our embryonic user-centric monitoring concept. We thoroughly investigated the marketplace to identify any parallel products, and their shortfalls, to ensure we addressed current and potential needs in initial development. We are also careful not to encroach on the product and/or services offer of companies with whom we need to work and look to for partnerships.

The time frame to educate and confirm a need in the minds of business and industry is anything up to two years. In the time from approaching appropriate organisations to securing a contract, prospective clients are able to apply for budgets and prepare ROI statements. For companies that rely on outsourcing, the product is marketed as an additional means of monitoring service delivery.

With today's ever-changing requirements, we recommend undertaking Proof of Concept (POC), which usually results in a sale. The time spent on POC is typically four weeks.

End-End Software Pty Ltd is a wholly Australian-owned company; the Managing Director funds all development and marketing.

As we provide a niche solution to a specific business need, product marketing targets organisations with at least 500 desktops, and/or which outsource their IT requirements; as well as organisations that recognises the need for a comprehensive and easy-to-use management tool.

We utilise numerous tools for direct and e-marketing (such as mailing lists and product- or OS-specific databases) so that we can target the appropriate audience. By forming alliances with developers and/or distributors of complimentary products, we have been able to identify prospective clients in a short period of time.

Additionally teaming up with companies that provide professional services and/or tools that address performance problems or for benchmarking and establishing SLAs has also secured new opportunities for business development.

We participate in and exhibit at specific trade shows and seminars. We continue to focus on establishing relationships globally as well as in Australia. We are also committed to increasing our network of resellers and emphasise the need to keep their product knowledge and resources up to date.

End-End Software Pty Ltd is currently working with clients throughout the Asia Pacific region. The company is also working with Australian with organisations in the retail, manufacturing, banking and government sectors.
