Judge's Citation In a world where we are totally dependant on mechanical devices and technology to maintain and enhance our way of life, Mincom’s LinkOne product reduces the challenge of identifying parts or components of complex repairable equipment or fixed plant by providing graphical tools to those who maintain and repair them. The judges were particularly impressed by the recent re-development of the product using the latest software development platforms and techniques to not only maintain backwards compatibility with its current significant global user base, but to take advantage of international opportunities in this growth area. By providing Intranet and Internet access to graphical content which helps users find the right part, first time, every time at the click of a button, and the enhanced ability to integrate with inventory and ordering ERP systems, LinkOne has great potential in the international market. |

Innovation
Mincom LinkOne Innovation
Mincom LinkOne optimizes business processes that relate to maintenance of complex repairable equipment or fixed plant by reducing the challenge of identifying parts or components.
Using graphical content, LinkOne provides a visual confirmation that the correct component has been identified.

Using filters, LinkOne ensures that only relevant content is displayed. It is common for complex equipment to be supplied with documentation covering several models or variations. A filter allows content to be dynamically reduced to a specific variation, ensuring that only relevant information is presented.
Using LinkOne for MySAP, LinkOne content can be published automatically out of a SAP bill of materials structure, allowing parts and maintenance catalogs to be produced automatically by manufacturers running SAP.

Alcan Gove “The visibility of equipment parts made possible by Mincom LinkOne has made it significantly easier for tradesmen to find and requisition the right replacement parts, as well as ensure that we are able to prevent duplication in stock. Mincom LinkOne is a superior solution to parts listing, yet it requires far less resources and effort in implementation and upkeep than conventional approaches.” Doug Parrish, Site Manager, Alcan Gove |
LinkOne has been designed for and developed using Microsoft .NET technology.
A key goal in using .NET was to produce an identical business logic tier behind different windows forms and ASP.NET presentation mechanisms. This ensures common behaviour between two very different deployment models.

The business logic tier, known is the LinkOne Document Object Model (LinkOne DOM) also provides a powerful object orientated programming API allowing sophisticated integration with external systems.

Potential
Mincom LinkOne was designed with international use in mind. The very nature of the product – allowing users to select the parts they need using pictures rather than text – lends itself to an international audience. Couple this with latest version support for Unicode within the browser and it is easy to see why we have been successful in markets such as Japan and Korea.
Mincom LinkOne is well suited to any complex, repairable equipment. Our existing customers have this common thread, but are from many industries. Mining is a very strong industry for Mincom as a company and LinkOne, but other industries where we have customer include Utilities, Transport, Agriculture, Aerospace, Medical Equipment and Defence.
With an existing customer base of over 200 original equipment manufacturers’ who publish and distribute LinkOne content around the world, LinkOne has already been very successful, with a passionate, referenceable customer base. The innovation in the LinkOne WebView product allows those customers to deploy their content to the internet, providing access to a 24/7 spare parts shop. Customers such as Volvo Penta of Sweden, Metso Minerals of Finland, Komatsu Australia and WE Energies of Wisconsin USA have all deployed the LinkOne WebView solution.
Our partnership with German software and consulting house “Wessendorf Software & Consulting” has resulted in an automated publishing system using the structures within the SAP R/3 Bill of Materials or Functional Location/Equipment Hierarchy structures. Using this system, either one of those SAP structures is automatically represented as a user friendly, graphical LinkOne catalogue. Any changes to the structure, such a part number changes, descriptions, even the hierarchy itself are automatically reflected in the LinkOne content.
