Barry Orr is a principal of Orr Strategies, a Sydney-based consultancy specialising in services to corporations and governments in the field of international business development and inward investment attraction.   Barry was previously a senior economic development executive with the South Australian Government, most recently General Manager of its Sydney Trade and Investment Office. His company recently represented the inward investment interests of The British Midlands in Australasia."

His work has included the planning, development and international promotion of science and technology parks, and the development of incubation facilities, innovation and electronics technology transfer centres.  Barry has also had a central role in the attraction of large scale investment to South Australia by major Australian and international companies in such projects as software development centres, call centres and back office processing centres.  During his involvement in the science park movement he served as President of the International Association of Science Parks.  He has provided advice on aspects of economic development to agencies in Russia, Hong Kong, and Thailand and undertaken investment attraction promotion in North America, Europe and Asia.

Barry made a major contribution to securing for Australia the World Congress on IT held in Adelaide in 2002 and Orr Strategies has assisted in the master planning for this important event.
