For the last 5 years Charles has built a range of business programs for ATP Innovations, a Sydney company owned by 4 of Australia’s leading research universities. These programs support the needs of private sector technology businesses, and also the needs of the universities for research commercialisation. Operating to worlds’ best practice, they include bizNetClub, a leading entrepreneur’s network, bizCapital, an early stage investment company, bizStart, a market validation program, bizConnect, a broad incubator program, and Successful Innovation, a leading podcast resource. In the early 2000’s and through his own business ITFC, Charles provided a range of business advisory services to the ICT sector. He provided fundraising, strategy consulting and market development services to a number of emerging technology companies, and to a leading ICT business incubator. During the 90’s Charles established and ran 3 major systems integration practices; in smart cards, CRM & data warehousing, and business process outsourcing. He has held senior positions at Hewlett-Packard, SAP Software, Hitachi Data Systems and UCMS, securing large scale innovative “new business” in the financial services, utilities, manufacturing and distribution sectors. During the 80’s Charles held various senior positions at Unisys and Burroughs in Australia and the UK, focussed on enterprise resource management (ERM) software. These included responsibility for software design and development, marketing, consulting and client implementations. Charles sits on the advisory boards of a number of ICT companies with a focus on market validation, sales and marketing, and sound business operations. He is a Non Executive Director of NSW Enterprise Workshop, a not-for-profit organisation providing skills development to CEO’s through a network of volunteer business personnel. Charles is also actively involved in several ICT industry associations including the AIIA (NSW committee member & subcommittee chair), AEEMA (various subcommittees) and the Pearcey Foundation (NSW committee member). He instigated the annual “On The Spot” pitching awards, and is a judge of many ICT industry awards including Australian Technology Showcase, IT Secrets, iAwards and the Consensus software awards. Charles has Australian and UK citizenship. A family man, he is a multi-sport competitor and an active participant in his local community including Treasurer & Patrol Captain, Avalon Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, President of the P&F at St Augustines College Brookvale, and board member at Maria Regina High School, Warriewood. |
