Kirk McKay is the Managing Director and Senior Consultant for Apex Realized Solutions Pty Ltd. With 23 years in general and project management, Kirk has successfully completed multiple business process reengineering projects, masterminded IT strategic plans for a number of major companies, and successfully rescued several major projects. Kirk's career has spanned numerous industries and three different countries, Canada, United States, and Australia.

He has worked for major multi-nationals such as IBM, Hewlett Packard, and Visa International. All these roles included budget and recruiting responsibility, and system development, QA and support functions. In management roles, Kirk has proven his strategic planning skills with experience in planning business resources, leading focus groups, determining business drivers, and formulating long-range plans. In his role with Apex he currently provides project team coaching and SME business renovation services. Apex also works closely with strategic partners such as Eyes Wide Open to provide a full range of services. Kirk's has over 20 years experience in project management and software development methodologies. This includes a reputation for "rescuing" troubled projects through techniques such as risk analysis to identify and mitigate issues. He believes it is important to relate business goals to IT projects and use a business focus to motivate staff and resolve stakeholder issues.

Kirk started his IT career as a programmer in 1975 and has served other IT roles such as programmer/analyst, systems analyst, project manager, and IT manager. Kirk has also served as the General Manager of Corrugated Technologies, a commercial software company producing scheduling software for the corrugated containerboard industry. As a result, Kirk has experience in all aspects of software development. Kirk's education includes a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Technology Management and Psychology and a Certificate IV in Business Facilitation from Victoria University (Melbourne). Kirk is a Certified Systems Professional (ICCP) and has his PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.

Although Kirk is kept very busy providing change management and planning services to the SME market, he still manages to donate some of his spare time coaching small businesses to success. Kirk also contributes his time to a number of charitable organisations.

Kirk lives in Hornsby with his wife Cristina. They both enjoy travelling extensively in Australia and can be found most weekends hiking through the New South Wales' National Parks.
