Nick Hough, an IT marketing professional, with extensive international achievements in export development, capital sales and lease financing has recently returned to his consultancy business - directed at both business acceleration projects for SME software companies and at the development of a range of channel / alliance relationships, focused on the SME software community. 

For the previous five years, Nick was Client Relationship Executive with EDS Australia. He was recruited by them to be responsible for the definition and management of a government mandated SME vendors’ export program; taking it from initial concept and branding through to delivery of export sales.

The program was directed at Australian and NZ software companies and involved his identifying and interviewing of more than 250 companies for consideration for inclusion in the program. He was responsible for carrying out due diligence on more than 60 of these companies - and entered into teaming agreements with the selected SME vendors, going on to deliver them in excess of $100 million in direct export sales.

With earlier consultancy and contract assignments, including with the NSW Department of State and Regional Development, he built a wide understanding of the needs and problems of the SME software industry. Hands-on experience came from his establishing an independent IBM mainframe leasing and sales company with total revenues of $80 million – and with a profitable customer base of “top 100” companies and government agencies.

Nick’s earlier IT experience included broad based marketing and strategy development roles, mainframe systems development and MIS management.
