Simon has had broad experience in the Information Technology for the last twenty years within the Australian Defence Force. Applications range form guided missile weapon control systems, large scale network infrastructure, information security policy application, maritime communications, and the development of key personnel logistic and operations managements systems. Simon had a wide diverse range of activity throughout his 33 years service in the Royal Australian Navy. Some of pertinent activities include his time as the Director of Information Services for the Australian Navy 1992 –1996 where he managed the implementation one of the largest IP network infrastructure projects in Navy at sea and all shore bases. Simon also served as Commanding Officer of Guided Missile Destroyers HMA Ships BRISBANE 1996-98 where he pioneered the infrastructure development and the of the use of POP email for use by all personnel at sea to enhance their communications with families while away from home. More recently subsequent to leading the Navy’s Personnel and Training Organisation, he assumed Command of the Navy’s Frigate Force Element Group before transitioning to the private sector to pursue some entrepreneurial activity.

In a wider context, Simon has been a director on several not-for profit boards since 2002 and is currently a Director on the Board of Dragons Boats New South Wales.

From his wide varied experience he has learned that innovative thinking and information technology can combine to provide significant benefits in all areas of endeavour to those seeking to achieve them.
