Delnawaz emigrated to Australia from Iran 20 years ago, while still a teenager. After completing high school he worked for a year in his father’s photographic shop, a move that would lay the groundwork for his future success. Delnawaz spent the next few years at university studying a Computer Science degree; in the meantime his younger brother Korosh had opened his own photographic store. Korosh had asked Steve to create a software application that could automate the day-to-day running of his retail operation. Steve complied and soon enough other owners of photographic stores heard about the point of sale program and wanted it for their own stores. This meant that Steve had to decide between completing his university degree, or take a chance and leave to begin his own company selling ‘Controlab’, the software he had created. He did the latter and began Whitech Software Solutions. Ten years on, Whitech’s product range has grown to include Business Professional Point of Sale software and the suite of Photo.Teller™ software that incorporates digital kiosks, Home Ordering and Net Ordering. Today Whitech has international offices in England, USA and New Zealand and has distributors in Canada, Europe and South America. Several thousand customers worldwide utilise Whitech’s products in their retail operations. Whitech has won several awards in the past few years for its business achievements and also for the quality of its software products, including the 2005 Telstra and Australian Governments’ Small Business of the Year. Whitech’s success has been enhanced through partnerships with leading companies in the photographic channel including Fujifilm Australia, Konica Minolta and Kodak Australasia. Steve’s brother Korosh is now the President of Whitech USA. |
